A method of enhancing the fatigue strength of burr toe portions in the vicinity of friction welded joint with burr so that the fatigue strength of the vicinity of friction welded joint with burr obtained by welding together two metallic members according to the friction welding technique can be equivalent to or superior to that of the body of the metallic members. There is provided a method of enhancing the fatigue strength of burr toe portions in the vicinity of friction welded joint with burr obtained by welding together two metallic members according to the friction welding technique, characterized in that shot bombardment is applied to the burr toe portions under given conditions.
