Title:
METHOD FOR ERGOMETRICALLY EXERCISING THE MUSCULAR SYSTEM OF A HUMAN BEING AND ERGOMETER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2002051504
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for ergometrically excercising the muscular system of a human being by means of an ergometer and to an ergometer for exercising selected muscles of a human being. The aim of the invention is to develop a method and an ergometer enabling large areas of the muscular system of a human body to be ergometrically exercised in a targeted and individual manner, resulting in an optimized, complex exercising of the entire muscular system of a human being. The inventive method is characterized in that the user undergoes individually adjustable, defined reproducible exercise on said ergometer. Said exercising is composed of a combination of forces from various adjustable resistances on crank-type apparatuses (3,4) for the hands and/or legs and includes variably adjustable angles of inclination of the training position of the user, in addition to effective gravitational components. The user is connected to the ergometer in such a way that his or her arms and legs are arranged in separate devices, whereby the arms and legs can be selectively exercised either together or individually. The ergometer can be adjusted in various directions of inclination at various individual angles of inclination. As a result, various selectable muscle areas of the user can be exercised in a complex individual manner, either standing, sitting down or in an inclined position.
