METHOD OF EVALUATING ANTIOXIDATION ABILITY BY MEASURING REDOX BALANCE IN VIVO

Abstract:
It is intended to provide a method of evaluating antioxidation ability by measuring redox balance in vivo wherein the redox balance is represented in accordance with the following formula: redox balance = (antioxidation index after administration/oxidation index after administration)/(antioxidation index before administration/ oxidation index before administration). Each antioxidation index is obtained by quantitatively measuring the attenuation rate of signal strength of DMPO-OOL radical, which arises by supplementing butylhydroperoxide radical with 5,5-dimethyl-1-pyrrloine-N-oxide (DMPO), caused by the addition of serum with the use of a magnetic resonance spinning device and then indexizing the thus obtained antioxidation ability in accordance with 10-rank distribution (1 to 10). ON the other hand, each oxidation index is obtained by quantifying urinary 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) and then indexizing the thus obtained oxidation ability in accordance with 10-rank distribution (1 to 10).
