Abstract:
This invention provides a method for evaluating the local buckling capability of
a steel pipe in which whether or not the steel pipe of a yield ledge model can be applied
to applications where an excellent local buckling capability is required, for
example, pipelines. The method comprises a first step of acquiring the stress distortion
property of a material having a yield ledge in the stress distortion property,
a second step of determining a relationship between the magnitude of distortion
hardening starting distortion and the magnitude of local buckling distortion
of the steel pipe in the stress distortion property acquired in the first step,
and a third step of making an evaluation that, when the local buckling distortion
has been determined to be greater than the distortion hardening starting distortion
in the second step, the steel pipe can be applied to a structure based on a plastic
design while when the local buckling distortion has been determined to be not
greater than the distortion hardening starting distortion in the second step,
the steel pipe cannot be applied to the structure based on the plastic design.
