A method for forming a metal layer on the surface of resin products is characterized by the following sequential steps: (1) the step of preparing a shaping prototype mold, checking the prototype mold and filling it well after preparing the shaping prototype mold, finally, grinding the prototype mold with waterproof abrasive paper of 200 mesh or more; (2) the step of rolling over the silica gel mold to obtain the final silica gel mold; (3) the step of applying metal powder layer onto silica gel mold, spreading the metal powders of 200 mesh or more in the mold and vibrating the mold uniformly; (4) the step of curing and molding; (5) the step of demolding; (6) the step of repairing, using the mixed repairing material of metal powders and unsaturated resins to carry out repairing at the surface defects of products or at the mold joint lines; (7) the step of polishing and coating a protective layer. The degree of finish is significantly improved through the preliminary treatment of mold surface with waterproof abrasive paper, the product is made to have more metal glossiness and vivid natural effects by incorporating the repair with the mixture of metal powders and unsaturated resins.
