Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a method for forming a multilayer coating film, by which it is possible to form a multilayer coating film having excellent coating film performance even when curing is carried out at a low temperature. The present invention provides a method for forming a multilayer coating film, which includes an intermediate coating film formation step in which an uncured intermediate coating film is formed by coating an object to be coated with an aqueous intermediate coating material composition; a base coating film formation step in which an uncured base coating film is formed by coating an aqueous base coating material composition on the obtained uncured intermediate coating film; and a curing step in which the obtained uncured intermediate coating film and base coating film are heated and cured; wherein the aqueous intermediate coating material composition is an aqueous intermediate coating material composition containing an aqueous resin (A1) having hydroxyl groups and carboxyl groups, a polyisocyanate compound (B) and a hydrophilically modified carbodiimide compound (C); and the aqueous base coating material composition is an aqueous-based coating material composition containing an aqueous resin (A2) having hydroxyl groups and carboxyl groups, a melamine resin (D), a weak acid catalyst (E) and an aqueous polyurethane resin (F).
