Abstract:
The present invention provides a respiration guidance method for guiding the respiration of a subject and thereby causing the subject to relax, the respiration guidance method making it possible to cause the subject to relax in a short period of time. The present invention provides a method for generating a target respiratory waveform having: a step for measuring the heartbeat interval of a subject and acquiring a first waveform, this being a fluctuating waveform indicating the heart rate per unit time with respect to an elapsed measurement time, the first waveform having successive maximum and minimum values; a step for measuring, for a plurality of locations in succession, the time differences between positions at which the first waveform is at the maximum value, and urging the subject to breathe deeply until the relative standard deviation of the time differences is less than or equal to 15%; and a step for generating a target respiratory waveform, this being a temporally fluctuating waveform for target depth of respiration, the target respiratory waveform having successive maximum values indicating the points at which inhalation turns to exhalation and minimum values indicating the points at which exhalation turns to inhalation. In the step for generating a target respiratory waveform, when the times at the positions at which the first waveform is at the maximum value are represented by T1, T2,..., Ti,..., Tn and the times at the positions at which the target respiratory waveform is at the maximum value are represented by t1, t2,..., ti,..., tn, n being a natural number greater than or equal to 3, the time difference (Ti-ti) between the time Ti at a position at which the first waveform is at the maximum value and the time ti at a position at which the target respiratory waveform is at the maximum value is calculated for the plurality of locations in succession, and a target respiratory waveform having a frequency at which the time difference is the smallest is generated.
