Abstract:
A method for magnetizing a magnetic encoder 1 having double-row tracks 10, 20 disposed in parallel and adjacent to each other. The method comprises a magnetizing step of magnetizing tracks 10a, 10b individually using a magnetizing yoke 3 with respect to a magnetic member 100 yet to be magnetized. The magnetizing yoke comprises a pair of tip-end portions 30a, 31a proximate to and opposing each other. In a state in which the pair of tip-end portions are disposed along the row direction of the tracks in proximity to 100a to be magnetized of the magnetic member, the magnetizing yoke is configured to magnetize the tracks by moving relatively along the row direction of the tracks. The method is characterized in that the tip-end portions have a width dimension D2 greater than width dimensions D10, D11 of the double-row tracks, and the magnetizing yoke is disposed such that an end face position on one side in the width direction of the tip-end portions is aligned with a boundary portion 5 of the double-row tracks.
