The invention concerns an air filter device comprising a filtering medium (12) connected to a support (13) including at least one planar air distribution pipeline wall (14, 16) having a thickness e and a density mv whereof the product P verifies the relationship P = e.mv >/= 0,5 kg/m<2>. The method for making such a device consists in: connecting the filtering medium (12) to the pipeline wall (14, 16), having initially a planar shape, by performing a heat welding process, with no input of material, of a junction surface (FJ) of the pipeline wall (14, 16) with a complementary junction surface (SJ) of the filtering medium (12), then performing a process which consists in straightening at least one end of the pipeline wall (14, 16) deformed by said heat welding operation by heating said deformed end so as to straighten it to restore the pipeline wall (14, 16) to its initial planar shape. The invention is applicable to air filtering in a motor vehicle.
