Abstract:
A method of manufacturing an alkylene carbonate capable of providing a reactive mixture containing the alkylene carbonate in a reactor by reacting alkylene oxide with carbon dioxide under the presence of a catalyst in the reactor. The reactor is allowed to communicate with the process side flow passage of a heat exchanger through pipes to form a circulation circuit. The method is characterized in that, during or after a reaction, a process fluid is allowed to flow in the circulation circuit including the reactor and the process side flow passage while flowing a heat exchange medium of 140 to 200°C to the heat exchange side flow passage of the heat exchanger to maintain the internal temperature of the process side flow passage at 135 to 200°C.
