Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a battery case, in which a case main body having a rectangular lateral cross-sectional shape can be molded without being subjected to molding condition restrictions such as side wall thickness, etc. An intermediate product 14 having an oval lateral cross-sectional shape is subjected to drawing or ironing multiple times to gradually reduce the curvature radius of four corner sections 20 such that the lateral cross-sectional shape becomes rectangular; a final product which is the case main body is molded by reducing the thickness of side wall sections 18, 19 that form the corner sections 20; and, after the curvature radius of the corner sections 20 enclosed by adjacent side wall sections 18, 19 is less than a prescribed value, ironing is carried out during the process of molding the final product from the intermediate product 14 such that the difference between the ironing rate of the side wall section 18, which is one adjacent side wall section, and the ironing rate of the side wall section 19, which is another adjacent side wall section, is at or below a prescribed difference.
