Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a bearing unit for an automobile wheel, comprising the steps of grinding a bearing material (B) in the steps of simultaneously grinding an orbital surface (5) and a stepwisely cylindrical surface (6) and feeding back the deviation of the finished size of the surface (5) from the objective finish size to an inprocess control gauge (23) for controlling the grinding of a supporting surface (21) and stepwise shoulder surface (9) to simultaneously grind the supporting surface (21) and the shoulder surface (9); grinding an inwardly annular member (C) by the steps of grinding an orbital surface (11) and feeding back the deviation of the finished size of the surface (11) from the objective finished size to an inprocess control gauge (29) for controlling the grinding of the supporting surface (21) and the end face (10) of the side contacting the stepwise shoulder surface (9) to simultaneously grind the supporting surface (21) and the end face (10) of the side contacting the shoulder surface (9); and putting the member (C) on the stepwisely cylindrical surface (6) of the material (B) with the end face (10) in contact with the surface (9) of the material (B) in engagement, thereby eliminating the adverse influence of the outer peripheral orbital surfaces (5), (11) of the material (B) and the member (C) on the bearing gap.
