Abstract:
The present invention discloses a method for manufacturing a ceramic having multi-hit capability, and a bulletproof insert plate. The ceramic is obtained by sintering silicon carbide and/or boron carbide, wherein the sintering process is one or more of high-temperature sintering, reaction sintering, hot-pressing sintering or pressureless sintering. The ceramic has an average grain size of 200 to 380 μm, Vickers hardness of 23.5 to 34 GPa, and compressive strength of 2200 to 3100 MPa. The bulletproof insert plate is obtained by bonding a crack-stopping layer (1), a bulletprooft ceramic panel (2) and an energy-absorbing back plate (3) from the surface to the inside. The bulletproof insert plate has a surface density of less than 25 kg/m2, can resist the hit of four DBP95 5.8mm bullets, and all back-face deformations are less than 25mm. Under the premise that the bulletproof insert plate is not pierced by a bullet, the back-face deformation caused by the penetrating bullet is effectively mitigated, thereby meeting the diverse bulletproof requirements of new-generation protective insert plates.
