Abstract:

A method for manufacturing a forged drive shaft has: a step for preparing shaft material (100) having a first preliminary circular cylindrical part (111) of a first diameter extending in the direction of an axial line, a second preliminary circular cylindrical part (112) of a second diameter larger than the first diameter, and a preliminary intermediate shaft part (113) of a diameter larger than the first diameter and smaller than the second diameter connecting the first circular cylindrical part and the second preliminary circular cylindrical part to each other; a step for inserting the shaft material into a molding space of a first die (114) and forging and forming a spline molded product (128) having a spline shaft (91) of the first diameter on one end side of the shaft material in the first die; and a step for inserting the spline molded product into a second die (131) from the spline shaft part side and forging and forming a gear molded product (138) having a gear shaft (92) on the outer periphery on the opposite side from the spline shaft in a second die. By this method, it is possible to reduce cutting work to the extent possible while maintaining function as a drive shaft, thereby reducing processing time and improving yield.
