Abstract:
Provided are a method for manufacturing a hydrophilic fiber having excellent hydrophilicity retaining ability and a method for manufacturing a nonwoven fabric. A step is performed for discharging a sheath material 11 that has a thermoplastic resin as a main raw material and a core material 12 that has a thermoplastic resin including a hydrophilizing agent as a main raw material each from a hole of a nozzle for composite spinning, and melt-spinning a core-sheath-type composite fiber 1, a hydrophilic fiber is manufactured with the hydrophilizing agent included in at least the core material 12 and the hydrophilizing agent included in a lower content ratio in the sheath material 11 than in the core material 12, as needed, and a nonwoven fabric is manufactured using the hydrophilic core-sheath composite fiber manufactured by the aforementioned method.
