Abstract:
Provided is a method for manufacturing an inner member and a hub ring for a wheel bearing device in which reduction of service life due to inclusions is mitigated and strength is enhanced, and the method enhances yield and reduces the amount of raw material input. A columnar steel material (12) is heated to a temperature for hot forming and enlarged in diameter by upsetting between a top die and a bottom die to obtain an upset article (13), which is molded into a tower-type parent-child forged article (24) comprising an upper annular body (22) and a lower annular body (23) connected at an external peripheral top end thereof to an inside-diameter bottom section of the upper annular body (22), and the parent-child forged article (24) is separated into the upper annular body (22) and the lower annular body (23) thereof, whereby a hub ring and an inner member are obtained as finished products. A partition wall section of the hub ring which had conventionally been punched out and discarded after forging can therefore be effectively utilized as raw material for the inner member, and it is possible to provide a method for manufacturing a hub ring and an inner member for a wheel bearing device in which reduction of service life due to inclusions is mitigated and strength is enhanced, and the method enhances yield and reduces the amount of raw material input.
