Abstract:
Provided are a method of manufacturing an ion exchange membrane for electrolysis, with which it is possible to lower membrane resistance and reduce the electrolysis voltage needed during electrolysis, even when membrane strength is increased; an ion exchange membrane for electrolysis; a precursor membrane for an ion exchange membrane for electrolysis; and an electrolysis apparatus. This ion exchange membrane for electrolysis is manufactured by embedding a reinforcing fabric 20A which is woven from a reinforcing yarn 22 and a covering yarn 21 comprising a sacrificial material and covering at least portions of the outer peripheral surface of the reinforcing yarn 22 into a fluorine-containing polymer having groups that can be exchanged with ion exchange groups, to manufacture an ion exchange membrane precursor membrane; eluting out at least a portion of the sacrificial material in the reinforcing fabric from the precursor film, to form a reinforcing material; and converting conversion groups to ion exchange groups on ion exchange groups.
