Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a mutant strain having high deinoxanthin production ability, and a method for mass-producing deinoxanthin by using temperature control. Although being manufactured by applying a metabolic engineering method, a Deinococcus radiodurans mutant strain having high deinoxanthin production ability, manufactured by the method of the present invention, does not have an artificially introduced antibiotic resistance gene. The present invention can increase the production of deinoxanthin by regulating the expression of messenger RNA (mRNA) of DR0862 and DR1475 genes with the control of culture temperatures, without using an inducer such as IPTG, in the Deinococcus sp. mutant strain having both DR0862 crtB and DR1475 dxs genes introduced thereinto and exhibiting high deinoxanthin production ability. Thus, the present invention can be advantageously used for the mass production of deinoxanthin having high antioxidant activity through a very economical method.
