Abstract:
A method for manufacturing an optical fiber strand (40) provided with a mark comprises a covering step for forming an optical fiber strand (50) by covering a bare optical fiber (60) with a resin layer (70), and a formation step for forming a mark (41) on the resin layer (70) by transferring an ink (121) onto the resin layer (70) from a printing roller (140), the covering step including curing the resin layer (70) so that the resin layer (70) attains a degree of surface curing of 50-90%, expression (1) and expression (2) being satisfied in the formation step, α in expression (1) being the contact angle of the ink (121) with respect to the surface of the resin layer (70), and V in expression (2) being the volume of the ink (121) per 1 µm of length along the axial direction of the optical fiber strand (50). (1): α ≤ 22°. (2): V ≤ 260 µm3.
