Abstract:
A plastic lens having a coat layer is manufactured by applying a photosetting coating agent on a surface of a plastic lens having a thin center portion thickness of 2mm or less, which is thinner than the thickness of a peripheral portion, and by hardening the coating agent. In the manufacture, the target product can be manufactured with a high productivity without causing lens deformation by using no special cooling apparatus. A lens holding table has a lens contact section, which has a surface shape substantially matching with a rear plane of the lens and is composed of an elastic material. The lens whereupon an unhardened coat layer composed of the photosetting composition is formed on the surface is held on the lens contact section of the lens holding table so that the rear plane of the lens is brought into close contact with the lens contact section, and the lens is irradiated with light to harden the unhardened coat layer.
