Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a plastic optical fiber suitable to suppress a transmission loss. The present invention provides a method for passing a softened preform 1 through a through-hole 12 from the inside of a container-like member 10 having the shape of a container having the through-hole 12 in the bottom part thereof. The preform 1 includes a resin. At least an inside surface 10i of the container-like member 10 is composed of a material containing, as a main component, glass, a heat-resistant resin or aluminum. In an aspect of the present invention, the preform 1 is softened by being heated while a metal member, in which the container-like member 10 is disposed, and the perform 1 are not in direct contact with each other, is caused to pass through the through-hole 12, then further passes through a cylindrical section 26 of the metal member 20, and is molded in a fiber shape.
