Title:
METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A STACKED STATOR ASSEMBLY FOR A LINEAR MOTOR
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2001048888
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
A stator assembly (10) has a pair of end holes (12a, 16a) leading to a hollow region (14a) which has a larger diameter than the end holes (12a, 16a). The assembly (10) is manufactured around an elongated pole (22) having a diameter equal to the end holes (12a, 16a), which is surrounded by a temporary sleeve (24) whose thickness fills the gap between the pole (22) and the inner wall of the hollow region (14a). The pieces of the assembly (10) are placed onto the pole (22) such that the sleeve (24) lies within the hollow region (14a), to thereby align them correctly with one another. After the pieces are secured to each other, the pole (22) is removed, leaving the sleeve (24) within the hollow region (14a), and then the sleeve (24) is removed (24). The sleeve (24) may be flexible in order to expedite is removal from the hollow (14a), and also may be of a magnetic material (17) that is kept in place by magnetic forces generated by the stator assembly (10) or by the pole (22).
