Abstract:

A method of manufacturing a water absorbing resin, comprising a polymerization step for generating the water absorbing resin by a negative-phase suspension polymerization method and a drying step for drying the water absorbing resin obtained in the polymerization step. A drying apparatus (X1) used in the drying step comprises an end wall (21), an end wall (22) opposed to the end wall (21), a peripheral wall (23) and a rotating shaft end part (24) extending between both end walls, an agitating means (25) formed on the rotating shaft part (24) for agitating the water absorbing resin while moving the resin from the end wall (21) to the end wall (22), an agitating means (26) formed on the rotating shaft part (24) for agitating the water absorbing resin while moving the resin from the end wall (22) to the end wall (21) between the agitating means (25) and the end wall (22).
