Abstract:
In this method for measuring a light transmission medium, a plurality of light inputs that have equal central wavelengths but different characteristics are inputted to a light transmission medium, and actual measured values of intensity spectra for a plurality of light outputs from the light transmission medium are acquired, the plurality of light outputs respectively corresponding to the plurality of light inputs. A measurement error between the actual measured values and an estimated value of the intensity spectrum is calculated on the basis of a logical relationship between the intensity spectra and phase spectra of each of the plurality of light inputs, a non-linear coefficient and a wavelength distribution value of the light transmission medium, and the intensity spectra of each of the plurality of light outputs, the measurement error being calculated while varying the non-linear coefficient and the wavelength distribution value. The non-linear coefficient and the wavelength distribution value of the light transmission medium are established on the basis of differences between the plurality of light inputs in terms of the relationship between the measurement error and the non-linear coefficient and wavelength distribution value, said differences originating from the aforementioned differences in characteristics. There is thereby realized a measurement method with which it is possible to precisely acquire non-linear coefficients and wavelength distribution values for the light transmission medium.
