Abstract:
The wear resistance of a piston sliding surface (3) in an aluminum alloy cylinder block (2) is made to vary for each location thereon by applying a plasma exposure treatment to the piston sliding surface (3) and also changing the oxygen content of a carrier gas used in that plasma exposure treatment for each location on the piston sliding surface (3).
