Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for the preparation of weak-acid, natural-oil soap. It comprises saponifying natural oil with a first alkaline solution to yield an alkali salt of fatty acid and glycerol; hydrolyzing the alkali salt of fatty acid in the presence of an acid catalyst to give a fatty alcohol; reacting the fatty alcohol with a second alkaline solution to give a salt; and precipitating the salt in an electrolyte solution.
