Abstract:
The present invention relates to an acid catalyst composition for preparing 5-chloromethyl-2-furfural from galactan derived from seaweed, and a method for preparing 5-chloromethyl-2-furfural from galactan derived from seaweed in a two-component phase using the same. The acid catalyst composition for preparing 5-chloromethyl-2-furfural from galactan derived from seaweed comprises an organic solvent and diluted hydrochloric acid, wherein the concentration of the diluted hydrochloric acid is 4-8 N. According to the present invention, 5-chloromethyl-2-furfural, which had been prepared through multiple steps such as pretreatment, saccharification and the like, can be directly converted from galactan derived from seaweed through a simple single step of mixing diluted hydrochloric acid and the organic solvent at an optimum ratio.
