Title:
METHOD FOR PREPARING COAL FOR USE IN COKE MANUFACTURING
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2013/128866
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A method for preparing coal for use in coke manufacturing includes adjusting the grain size of an individual brand of coal or caking additive, before said coal or caking additive arrives at a coke plant, such that grains with diameters greater than or equal to 6 mm constitute no more than 30% of said coal or caking additive by mass, said coal or caking additive having a penetration distance of at least 15 mm. In another method for preparing coal for use in coke manufacturing, the grain size of an individual brand of coal or caking additive is adjusted, before said coal or caking additive arrives at a coke plant, such that grains with diameters greater than or equal to 6 mm constitute no more than 30% of said coal or caking additive by mass, said coal or caking additive having a penetration distance greater than or equal to a limiting penetration distance computed from the Gieseler maximum fluidity of said coal or caking additive on the basis of a relationship between limiting penetration distance and Gieseler maximum fluidity obtained from the penetration distance and Gieseler maximum fluidity of (each of) one or more brands of coal or caking additive.
