Abstract:
A secondary battery according to the present invention has a structure in which a liquid electrolyte is maintained as a liquid phase in an inner core portion, without gelation due to crosslinking, and the core portion is surrounded by an outer portion gelled as a result of crosslinking to a predetermined degree or higher of crosslinking. These structural features enhance ionic conductivity and mechanical properties, so that both the strength and safety of the battery are increased. In addition, the liquid electrolyte is confined by the gel polymer electrolyte and thus is prevented from being leaked. Furthermore, the secondary battery according to the present invention can be prepared by a simple method of applying a method of gelling only the outer portion of the electrode assembly by controlling the gelation degree of the electrolyte according to the oxygen concentration gradient in the electrode assembly. Accordingly, there is no need to prepare a separate apparatus or equipment line for performing a crosslinking step, so that the process efficiency is not adversely affected.
