Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for preparing a high-softening-point pitch, which has a high softening point by forming a polyene radical intermediate and using the polyene radical intermediate to linearly link an alkyl aromatic radical material in the form of benzyl or methylene, leading to a polymer, and to a high-softening-point pitch prepared by the method. A high-softening-point pitch can be produced at a high yield by providing a method for preparing a high-softening-point pitch, characterized in that a base pitch is generated by adding a compound capable of forming a polyene radical intermediate to a mono- to tetra-cyclic alkyl aromatic condensate, followed by thermal treatment, and then the base pitch is subjected to thermal treatment under reduced pressure.
