Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for preparing isopropyl alcohol, the method comprising the steps of: feeding a feed stream containing a propylene monomer and water to a reaction unit, followed by reaction, to generate a reaction product containing isopropyl alcohol, a propylene monomer, and water; feeding, to a stripper, each of first and second discharge streams discharged from the reaction unit, the first discharge stream containing a gas-phase reaction product, the second discharge stream containing a liquid-phase reaction product; and circulating a top discharge stream containing the propylene monomer from the stripper to the reaction unit and feeding a bottom discharge stream containing water and isopropyl from the stripper to an isopropyl alcohol purification unit, wherein the first discharge stream is condensed through a first heat exchanger and is fed in a liquid-phase to the stripper.
