Abstract:
A method of making annular polymer articles provides for placing a blank on a cylindrical forming surface, dividing it, along the perimeter, into even and odd sections and pressing the blank in two stages, during the first of which the even sections are pressed and during the second stage the odd ones are pressed, the pressure being simultaneously kept on the even sections, after which the article is vulcanized. The press mould comprises a cylindrical mandrel (1) mounted on a support and serving for placing the blank on it, and elements (5, 6) intended for pressing the blank and mounted in turn around the cylindrical mandrel (1), the even elements (5) being provided with side surfaces (7) which are parallel to the axis of symmetry of each element (5) and the odd elements (6) being provided with side surfaces adjoining the side surfaces (7) of the neighbouring even elements (5) oriented at an angle (alpha) to the axis of symmetry of that element (6), whereas the kinematic connection of the even (5) and odd (6) elements with the means for their radial movement is adapted for consecutively moving firstly all the odd elements (6) and then all the the even ones (5).
