Abstract:
In a method of processing female splines of a hub unit for supporting a wheel, a hole (3a) with a hollow cylindrical shape is formed in a shaft portion (3c) of a hub unit (103) before swaging. After the swaging, female splines are formed in the hole (3a) by semi dry- or dry-broaching. The diameter of the hole (3a) that has a hollow cylindrical shape after the swaging is set such that it becomes larger as it approaches a swage portion (3d) of the shaft portion (3c) by the amount of reduction in the diameter caused by the swaging and pressing-in of an inner ring element.
