Abstract:
Provided is a method of production for obtaining, at high yield, a 2-chloromethylbenzaldehyde-containing liquid composition that is very useful in industry. More specifically, provided is a method for producing 2-chloromethylbenzaldehyde, the method comprising: a step (A) for mixing together 1-dichloromethyl-2-chloromethylbenzene and sulfuric acid having a concentration of 84.5 wt% or higher; and a step (B) for mixing together water and the mixture obtained by the step (A).
