Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a technique for producing an artificial lung by an easier means. Provided is a method for producing an artificial lung comprising a plurality of porous hollow-fiber membranes for gas-exchange, said hollow-fiber membranes being at least partially formed of polypropylene. This method, wherein the hollow-fiber membranes have an inner surface forming a lumen and an outer surface, comprises preparing a coating solution containing at least one compound selected from the group consisting of dopamine, a salt thereof and an oligomer thereof, and contacting the inner or outer surface of the hollow-fiber membranes with the coating solution while blowing oxygen gas into the coating solution for a period shorter than 10 hours to thereby form a polymer layer containing a polymer of the aforesaid compound on the inner or outer surface.
