Abstract:
A method for producing a biphenyl-skeleton-containing epoxy resin represented by formula (1), characterized by comprising a step for reacting an epihalohydrin with a polyhydroxybiphenyl obtained by a production process including a regioselective cross-coupling reaction. In formula (1): k1 and l1 are each an integer of 0 to 4; m and n are each an integer of 1 to 5; and R1 and R2 are each independently an optionally substituted C1-10 hydrocarbon group, and may be the same or different from each other (with the proviso that both phenyl structures of the biphenyl skeleton are different from each other).
