Abstract:
Provided are a method for producing a carboxy-group-containing resin that permits control of the molecular weight and has excellent performance stability between production lots, and a method for controlling the molecular weight of a carboxy-group-containing resin. The method for producing a carboxy group-containing resin of the present invention has a step A that reacts an epoxy compound (a) and an unsaturated monobasic acid (b) in an organic solvent and obtains a first reaction product A-containing solution, a step B that controls the water content of the first reaction product A-containing solution to obtain a second reaction product A-containing solution, and a step C that adds a polybasic acid dianhydride (c) and a polybasic acid monoanhydride (d) to the second reaction product A-containing solution and reacts to obtain a carboxy-group-containing resin.
