Abstract:

A method for producing a cell concentrate using a cell suspension treatment system, wherein the cell suspension treatment system is provided with: a storage container for a cell suspension, which is equipped with a solution inlet port, a circulation outlet port and a circulation inlet port; a cell suspension treatment device for removing a liquid from the cell suspension by filtration to thereby concentrate the cell suspension, which is composed of a container equipped with a cell suspension feed port, a cell suspension lead-out port and a filtrate discharge port and a hollow fiber separation membrane filled in the container; a circulation circuit for concentrating the cell suspension while circulating the cell suspension between the storage container and the cell suspension treatment device; a collection container for a cell concentrate which is produced by the concentration; a collection passage for feeding the cell concentrate into the collection container; an injection passage for injecting a solution into the solution inlet port of the storage container; and a detection means for detecting the volume of the cell concentrate in the storage container or in a connecting tube for feeding purposes of the circulation circuit. In the method, the volume of the cell concentrate in the storage container or the connecting tube for feeding purposes of the circulation circuit can be detected to terminate the feeding of the solution. In this manner, it becomes possible to produce a cell suspension which undergoes small loss of cells and from which undesired components are washed out.
