Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for producing a conjugated aromatic compound, which is characterized in that an aromatic compound (A) represented by formula (1) is reacted with another aromatic compound (A) which has the same structure as the aromatic compound (A), or with an aromatic compound (B) which is structurally different from the aromatic compound (A) and in which one or two leaving groups selected from a group consisting of an iodine atom, a bromine atom and a chlorine atom are bonded to an aromatic ring, in the presence of a nickel compound, a metal reducing agent, and a 2,2'-bipyridine compound which has at least one electron-donating group but do not have a substituent in the 3-position, 6-position, 3'-position and 6'-position. (In formula (1), n represents 0 or 1; m represents (3 - n); R1 represents an alkyl group having 1-20 carbon atoms, or the like; R2s each independently represents a hydrogen atom or the like; and X1 and X3 each independently represents a chlorine atom or the like.)
