Abstract:
The present invention is a method for producing a cyclopentyl alkyl ether compound represented by formula (1) R1-O-R2 (wherein R1 represents an optionally substituted alkyl group having 1-10 carbon atoms or an optionally substituted cycloalkyl group having 3-8 carbon atoms; and R2 represents an optionally substituted cyclopentyl group), which is characterized by reacting an optionally substituted cyclopentene with an alcohol compound represented by formula (2) R1OH (wherein R1 is as defined above) in the presence of an acidic zeolite having a silica/alumina ratio of 80 or more. The present invention provides a method which is capable of continuously producing an aimed cyclopentyl alkyl ether stably for a long period of time with high reaction efficiency even in cases where large amounts of starting materials are supplied, and which enables a reaction in a liquid phase, while being suppressed in deterioration of the catalytic activity over time (namely, achieving a long catalyst life).
