Abstract:
A dither pattern which can limit the occurrence of grains and reduce image quality deterioration when a plurality of different color inks are used for recording. When, for example, a threshold dot Do gives the largest total of repulsion potentials among respective threshold dots for calculating a total of repulsion potentials, a change in repulsion potential before and after its moving is determined and the threshold dot Do is moved to a pixel at which a total of repulsion potentials is smallest before and after the moving. Such processes, when repeated many times, can lower a total energy of the entire three planes, and a threshold dot distribution is so arranged in terms of overlapped 3-plane dither patterns as to distribute a few low-frequency components favorably.
