Abstract:

The present invention provides: a method for purifying an (E)-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene (OF-1233E) composition, comprising a step of bringing an (E)-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene composition containing at least hydrogen fluoride and 2-chloro-1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane into contact with a weak base; and a method for producing (E)-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene, comprising a step of subjecting the (E)-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene composition produced by the purification method to distillation. The methods enable the efficient production of OF-1233E without generating any new component that is hardly distillated, by removing hydrogen fluoride from the OF-1233E composition and distilling the resultant composition.
