Abstract:
Provided is a safe and simple method for producing an epoxy compound in which a compound having carbon-carbon double bonds is epoxidated in the presence of acetonitrile using hydrogen peroxide as an oxidizer without requiring a procedure for concentration of reaction liquid in which hydrogen peroxide remains. The method for producing an epoxy compound in which a compound having carbon-carbon double bonds is epoxidated in the presence of acetonitrile using hydrogen peroxide as an oxidizer comprises the following steps: a first step for adding water and an organic solvent, which is not compatible with water and does not dissolve an acetamide by-product of epoxidation, to the reaction solution once epoxidation is completed and thereby dissolving the acetamide in the water; a second step for separating an organic layer and an aqueous layer; and a third step for reducing and then rinsing and concentrating the organic layer to obtain an epoxy compound.
