Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing exfoliated graphite, having a thinner particle average thickness, in a short time and with good efficiency. A thin-layer structure of graphite is produced by passing an electric current to an electrochemical reaction system comprising a positive electrode containing graphite, a negative electrode optionally containing graphite, and an electrolyte solution containing a tetrafluoroboric acid salt or a hexafluorophosphoric acid salt as the electrolyte. Exfoliated graphite is produced by subjecting the thin-layer structure to a peeling operation.
