Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing a fluorine-containing copolymer solution having good storage stability and good dryability of the coating film when made into a coating composition. A monomer mixture containing a fluoro-olefin (A), a monomer (B) having a crosslinking group, and a monomer (C) free of fluorine atoms and crosslinking groups is polymerized in the presence of an organic solvent and a compound having piperidyl groups represented by formula (1), wherein the molar ratio of the total molar amount of piperidyl groups contained in this compound having piperidyl groups is 0.00105-0.00380 with respect to the total molar amount of monomers in this monomer mixture. In formula (1), R1, R2, R3, and R4 are hydrogen atoms, methyl groups, or hydroxy groups; and Y is a hydrogen atom, oxy radical group, alkyl group, alkoxy group, aryl group, or hydroxy group.
