Abstract:

A peroxide-crosslinkable fluorine-containing elastomer is produced by allowing a fluorine-containing olefin and a perfluoroalkyl divinyl ether monomer represented by general formula CF2=CF-[OCF2CF(CF3)]aO(CF2)bO[CF(CF3)CF2O]C-CF=CF2 (where a + c is an integer of 0 to 4, and b is an integer no less than 2) to undergo a copolymerization reaction, whereupon the copolymerization is performed by adding the perfluoro-divinyl ether monomer in batches separately before the start of the copolymerization reaction and after the start of the copolymerization reaction, or alternatively by adding the entire amount in batches after the start of the copolymerization reaction. A peroxide-crosslinked molded product of the resulting fluorine-containing elastomer exhibits high compression set resistance properties while also having a reduced decline in rupture strength, and a reduced increase in hardness or a reduced decline in elongation at break.
