Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for easily and economically producing a highly pure glucosylceramide-containing material in a large amount from a plant material. A highly pure glucosylceramide can be obtained in a large amount by a method for producing a glucosylceramide-containing material comprising a step for subjecting a fraction, which originates in a plant material containing the glucosylceramide and a sterol glycoside, to alcohol precipitation and then collecting the supernatant. The fraction originating in the plant material can be obtained by extracting the plant material with an alcohol or a hydroalcohol. It is preferred to delipidate the fraction after the extraction.
