Abstract:
A method for producing a Guerbet alcohol, wherein a raw material alcohol having 8-36 carbon atoms is reacted in the presence of a catalyst (A) which contains a first component and a second component as indicated below and in which the molar ratio (first component/second component) of the first component with respect to the second component is 2.9 or less. First component: copper.
Second component: one element selected from the group consisting of elements belonging to groups 3-12 in periods 4-6 of the periodic table, excluding copper and nickel.
