Abstract:
The present invention relates to a liquid, homogeneous and isotropic composite material in three dimensions, formed by a composition of resin pre-reinforced with glass micro-filaments, and to the method for producing same. The microfilaments are produced by cutting a continuous fibre in the form of a rigid filament ribbon, and are added to the resin composition until the quantity of fibre in the mixture reaches a predetermined proportion corresponding to a predetermined viscosity. The low viscosity of the mixture should allow any air that may have been introduced during compounding to escape. The mixture can be moulded in systems that require fluidity, such as spraying, injection-moulding, continuous lamination, casting, etc. All types of fillers and additives can be added to the liquid composite, making compression systems possible, such as BMC/SMC, extrusion, pultrusion, etc.
