Abstract:
A method for producing a lithium difluorobis(oxalato)phosphate solution which comprises mixing lithium hexafluorophosphate with oxalic acid in a nonaqueous solvent in such a manner that the molar ratio of lithium hexafluorophosphate to oxalic acid falls within the range of 1:1.90 to 1:2.10, further adding silicon tetrachloride in such a manner that the molar ratio of lithium hexafluorophosphate to silicon tetrachloride falls within the range of 1:0.95 to 1:1.10, and then reacting the same.  Because of containing little chlorine compounds or free acids, the lithium difluorobis(oxalato)phosphate solution produced by this method is usable as an additive which is effective for improving the performance of a nonaqueous electrolyte battery.
